About Nova
Foundation

Nova Foundation was created to support and develop artistic projects with international, multicultural, and diasporic perspectives.

Based in Copenhagen, the foundation works with professional artists, musicians, producers, designers, filmmakers, and cultural organisations to create projects that connect local audiences with global artistic voices.

Its work grows out of the same vision as Nova Concerts Series: to present music as a living form of encounter, shaped by movement, memory, rhythm, and collaboration.

Our Mission

Nova Foundation supports artistic work that brings people, cultures, and musical languages into meaningful dialogue.

We support music that carries memory, crosses borders, and creates new forms of belonging.
  • Present original music of high artistic value
  • Develop concerts, recordings, films, talks, and interdisciplinary productions
  • Support artists with diverse cultural backgrounds
  • Create new collaborations across countries and traditions
  • Strengthen Copenhagen as a space for international music

Nova Concerts
Series

Nova Concerts Series is the live music platform at the heart of Nova Foundation. It presents concerts where professional musicians from different cultural backgrounds come together to perform original music shaped by movement, memory and encounter.

A Curated Constellation

Each edition is built as a constellation: a carefully curated grouping of artists whose individual voices, when placed in the same room, produce something that could not have existed otherwise.

What defines Nova Concerts is the relationship between musicians, audience and place. Through each concert, new collaborations are born, new musical languages take shape, and cultural boundaries are crossed without being erased.

Music in Motion

When an artist migrates, they carry more than a passport. They carry sounds, silences, accents, gestures and memories formed elsewhere. In music, that movement becomes audible.

A rhythm born in one street begins to breathe in another city. A melody shaped by one climate finds new ears. It keeps its roots while becoming transformed by the place where it is heard.

Diaspora as Encounter

Music of the diaspora is memory in motion. It carries friction, recognition and encounter. It creates moments where people understand each other without translation.

Nova Concerts exists within that space: where what arrives from elsewhere reshapes what we call here.

The Cultural Act

Each concert becomes a living exchange between artist and audience. The room listens. The city listens. And when the last note settles into silence, something subtle has changed.

That shared shift, quiet, human and collective, is the cultural act Nova Concerts stands for.

Founder

"Nova Concerts exists to create spaces where music shaped by movement, memory and migration can be heard as part of the present. Each concert is a meeting point, between artists, audiences and the city itself."

Abel Alazo Creative Director and Founder, Nova Concerts Series
